Draft, pre-launch

Terms of Service

Draft, not yet in force. Hiasynth has not launched commercially, so nothing on this page binds anyone yet. What follows is our plain statement of how we intend the service to work, written so a lawyer can turn it into binding text and so you can tell today whether it suits you. We will date and version the real thing on the day it takes effect.

The short version

We would rather you actually read this, so here it is in six lines.

  • You get access to Humanity, our synthetic population of Europe, through an MCP server.
  • There are no real people in it, so there is nobody in here to target, contact or re-identify. That is a design property, not a promise we are asking you to trust.
  • Your questions are yours. We do not sell them, and we do not train anything on them.
  • Pay for what you use, cancel when you like.
  • Do not use us to harm people, and do not resell the raw population as if it were your own.
  • If something goes wrong, tell us. We would much rather hear it early.

The rest of this page is the same six ideas, said carefully.

Who we are

Hiasynth AB, registered in Sweden, company number 559538-3703. When this page says "we", "us" or "Hiasynth", that is who it means. When it says "you", it means whoever is using the service, and if you are using it for an employer, it means them too.

Reach us at hello@hiasynth.co.

Your account

You need an account to use anything beyond the public documentation. Keep your credentials to yourself, keep the email address current so we can reach you about your own account, and tell us quickly if you think someone else has got in.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything your API keys or connected AI clients do with it. This matters more than usual with us, because an agent holding your key can ask a great many questions very quickly.

What you can do with Hiasynth

Subject to your plan and to this page, you may query the population, use the answers in your own analysis, and publish conclusions drawn from it. Charts, reports, briefs, pitch decks, product decisions, academic work. That is the entire point of the thing.

Where a figure carries real weight in something you publish, cite the version you queried, for example Humanity 2.1 (reference year 2024). Our sources page explains why, and which upstream sources want naming too.

What you cannot do

A short list, and none of it should be a surprise.

  • Do not resell the population itself. Building your own product on top of our answers is welcome. Re-exporting the underlying records so that someone else can query them instead of us is not.
  • Do not present synthetic people as real people. No fabricated testimonials, no invented survey respondents, no "we asked 500 Europeans". You did not.
  • Do not use it to discriminate unlawfully. Population structure is a legitimate input to planning and a terrible excuse for treating an individual as a statistic.
  • Do not attempt to reverse the pipeline. There is no real person at the bottom of it, but trying to find one is still out of bounds.
  • Do not hammer the API. Rate limits exist so everyone gets an answer. Work with them rather than around them.

If we think something crosses one of these lines, we will normally ask you about it before we do anything drastic. Normally.

The data, and what it is not

Every person in Humanity is synthesised, not anonymised. The attributes are drawn from fitted distributions rather than copied from any individual, and the methodology sets out exactly how, including the parts we are still validating.

So Hiasynth is not a marketing list, not a lead source, and not a substitute for asking actual customers what they think. It tells you what a population looks like, at a level of detail nothing else offers. It will not tell you what any particular person will do, and any tool that claims otherwise is selling you something.

Your content and your queries

Your queries, your persona definitions and anything else you put into the service stay yours. We process them to answer you, to bill you, and to keep the service standing up. We do not sell them, share them with other customers, or use them to train models.

We do keep aggregate operational metrics, like how often an endpoint is called and how long it took, because that is how anything gets faster.

Plans, billing and credits

Pricing, credit bundles and what each plan includes are shown in the app and on the pricing page, and those are the versions that count. Payments run through Stripe, and we never see your full card details.

Subscriptions renew until you cancel. Cancel whenever you like and you keep access to the end of the period you have already paid for. If we ever change a price, we will tell you before it applies to you, not after.

Availability, and changes to the service

We aim for the service to be up and correct. We will not promise perfection, because we would rather keep a promise than make a good one.

The population gets rebuilt. Versions ship, coverage grows, and occasionally a figure changes because a statistics office revised the table underneath it. That is the release lineage doing its job. A query against a shipped version keeps returning what that version was built from, so a number you cited last quarter is still the number you cited.

If we ever need to retire a version or an endpoint, we will give reasonable notice and say what to move to.

What we do not promise

We provide the service as it is. We do not warrant that it will fit a particular purpose, run without interruption, or be free of every error. Statistical models have uncertainty, and ours are documented rather than hidden. Read the known limits before you bet the quarter on a single figure.

Nothing here tries to exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death, personal injury, or our own fraud.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability in any twelve month period is capped at what you paid us in that period.

That cap is normal for services at this price. If your use case needs something different, talk to us before you build on us rather than after.

Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account that is breaking the acceptable use section, not paying, or putting the service at risk, and we will tell you why.

When an account closes, you stop having access and we delete or anonymise your data on the schedule in the privacy policy. Anything either of us needs to keep for legal or accounting reasons, we keep.

Governing law

Swedish law applies, and the Swedish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away rights your local law gives you.

Changes to these terms

We will post any new version here with its own date, and tell account holders before a material change takes effect. Carrying on using the service after that means you are happy with it. If you are not, closing your account is always an option and we will not make it awkward.

Getting in touch

Questions about any of this, including the parts we have not written yet, go to hello@hiasynth.co. A real person reads it.
