Humanity v2.2 “Hoburgen”
A life behind every record. Birthdays, families as they are, a health layer, and the chance of what happens to each person next.
A life behind every record
Hoburgen keeps the shape of Sandhammaren and fills in the life behind each persona. A person has a birthday, a family whose timing makes sense, a state of health, and a chance of what happens to them next.
Planned for Hoburgen
- Birthdays. Every person has a birth date, and the ages in a family fit together: siblings are spaced as siblings are, twins occur at the real rate, and the busy birth months are busy here too.
- Families as they are. Same-sex couples, and children who live in two homes.
- A health layer for everyone aged 15 and over: weight, smoking, drinking, exercise, fruit and vegetables, long-standing conditions such as diabetes or heart disease, and how often people see a doctor. Habits and conditions go together as they do in life.
- Life on a real clock. The chance, year by year, of moving home, finding a partner, separating, having a child, changing job, losing a job or retiring.
- Work that follows the local economy. What people do, and the industry they do it in, reflects the region they live in.
- Income in its parts. Wages, pensions, benefits and income from capital are carried separately, so a household's money can be followed back to its source.
- What is on the plate. Food-group detail on what a household eats, and what each part of the diet emits.
- Every region counted as of 1 January 2024.
What does not change
The three layers and the way they join stay as they are in Sandhammaren. Anything written against v2.1 keeps working.
Hoburgen stands at the southern tip of Gotland, beside a limestone stack that looks so much like a face that it has been called the Old Man of Hoburgen for centuries. In the island's best-known legend a farmer invites the old man to his child's christening. He never comes, but he sends the richest gift of all.
